It started as a normal evening, with the queen receiving reports of Kencha and Mora. Suddenly the new gong sounded. That meant the earth was going to shake. Rayna had placed earth wizards on watch always to warn them as soon as they sensed something. The warning rang out clear and strong.
Rayna watched in anguish as people streamed from the shuddering castle... When someone yelled there was someone still inside.. Two hertasi women were hysterical as two children had been helping in the kitchen.. actually the pantry. The quake had started a fire in the kitchen and the children were trapped. Rayna gasped, but before she could react, Sinclair stepped through the spirit world to snatch the children from harm. When he emerged, his robes were burning but the children were safe. Sinclair put his own personal fire out by calmly jumping into the fountain.
After the incident, none were truly overly anxious to return to the building, so a fire was started, and most of the court remained outside most of the evening, telling stories and picking flowers. The incident particularly rattled the queen, who refused to return to the castle till she was drugged by the head healer and lulled to sleep by the stories.
Other than the fire in the kitchen, no major damage resulted from the strong tremor in the capital city. Reports are still coming in from the city itself as to how much damage was actually incurred.
